Communities across Scotland fell silent in remembrance of those who have lost their lives in conflicts across the world. In Edinburgh, First Minister John Swinney was joined by veterans and the city’s lord provost in laying a wreath at the stone of remembrance outside the city chambers.

Cities, towns and villages across the West Country fell silent this morning to mark Remembrance Sunday. Parades, church services and wreath laying ceremonies took place all over the region, with a two-minute silence held at 11:00 GMT.

Hundreds of people came together in Southampton on Remembrance Sunday to pay tribute to fallen servicemen and women. Current and former servicepeople – as well as government figures and members of the public – gathered round the cenotaph in Watts Park as wreaths were laid in the annual remembrance service on Sunday,

Thousands of people across East Yorkshire and Lincolnshire fell silent earlier to mark Remembrance Sunday. Organisers of an event in Goole in East Yorkshire said about 2,000 people attended, adding the event had grown each year.

King Charles, Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer and new Conservative leader Kemi Badenoch were among those who laid wreaths at the Cenotaph in London.
